- Since 2000, just before each major election in California, I have sent an analysis and recommendation to friends and family.
I distribute my recommendations by sending occasional emails to a GoogleGroups distribution list. See the "Get Major Updates..." header above for instructions on how to join that list.
Every election, I research all the topics I'll have to vote on in the West Berkeley neighborhood where I live (plus sometimes a few candidates or measures in nearby jurisdictions if I feel I have some special knowledge or interest). I do my best to figure out what votes fit with my values and interests. And then I say how I'll vote and why, plus offer some ways you can learn more. I welcome contrary (or reinforcing) opinions in the 'comments' section, and I try to address all serious comments. I hope my research helps you figure out how you want to vote.
Of course, the opinions in this blog are entirely my own and do not necessarily represent those of any organization I'm involved in.

These are always SO helpful and I very much appreciated having Dan Kalb's input as well, since I am outside of the No Cal area. It was great to have recommendations available for all the various statewide districts.
